Nuggets 94 – Heat 89 | A first title for the Nuggets

It made sense. It was predictable. It was all the same magical and awfully stressful.

After 47 years of existence, the Denver Nuggets have their first title. In front of their fans, the stars and support staff were perfect to orchestrate a comeback and thus defeat the Heat 95-89, Monday night at the Ball Arena. The Colorado team only needed five games to win.

It is the coronation of a team, but also the consecration of Nikola Jokic as the best current player in the NBA. After his most valuable player titles in season in 2021 and 2022 he added the Larry O’Brien trophy. The Serbian giant has again courted the bar of 30 points, thanks to a harvest of 28.

Butler’s coronation will have to wait

During their run in the playoffs, the Heat pulled off so many magic tricks that it was practically thinkable to see them being the second team in history to come from behind to win the ultimate series.

Jimmy Butler, the Heat point guard, scored 13 straight points for his club late in the fourth quarter to bring his team back into the background. Not only was the Miami club in the game, but they even led with two minutes to go.

The 33-year-old American, however, committed a costly reversal late in the game which sealed the outcome of the match.
