(New York) Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak has been suspended for two games for elbowing Buffalo Sabers forward Kyle Okposo.
The incident happened late in the third period of Thursday’s game. Seeing that he was going to miss his check on Okposo who was trying to win the Lightning territory with the puck, Cernak raised his elbow and hit Okposo hard in the face.
This is the second time Cernak has been suspended in his career.
Cernak will have to forfeit nearly US$32,000 in salary during his suspension.
