(Paris) French novelist Fred Vargas, creator of curator Jean-Baptiste Adamsberg, returns to crime fiction with Under the slabafter a six-year hiatus that left its fans impatient, its publisher announced on Tuesday.
This tenth adventure of the curator will be published on May 17 by Flammarion editions.
Under the slab takes the investigator to Brittany, in the west of France, where a game warden was murdered: “the Louviec affair” (from the name of a fictitious village) will take on unexpected proportions.
Fred Vargas is the author “of more than fifteen detective novels, translated in 22 countries, adapted for cinema or television”, according to his publisher.
His last thriller, When the recluse comes outhad been published in 2017.
Fred Vargas, a scientist and archaeozoologist by training, has meanwhile published two essays on climate change, Humanity in Peril in 2019, then How hot are we going to experience? What solutions to feed us? in 2022.
