It’s finally time for the long-awaited shock, the one that has made tennis fans salivate since the draw. On the one hand the young Carlos Alcaraz, world number 1 at only 20 years old, hungry as never after his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2022. In the round of 16, the Spaniard unceremoniously dismissed Lorenzo Musetti before inflicting a correction on the fifth player in the world, Stefanos Tsitsipas, to join the last four Porte d’Auteuil for the first time in his career.
Facing him, the timeless Novak Djokovic launched to conquer his 23rd Major to hold, alone, the record for Grand Slam titles in history. In the quarter-finals, the Serb conceded his first set of the tournament against Russian Karen Kachanov. Friday, June 9, he is aiming for a seventh final Porte d’Auteuil to try to glean his third coronation at Roland-Garros.
This is only the second confrontation between the two men after a first clash in Madrid, already on clay. A duel where Juan-Carlos Ferrero’s protege emerged victorious.
