The soap opera continues. After having challenged in court his deportation from Australia, the world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic obtained, Thursday, January 6, a reprieve, reports his lawyer Christopher Tran. The latter indicated that the government did not plan to expel the player before a new hearing scheduled for Monday. On Wednesday, the Australian authorities had decided to cancel his visa and to expel him from the country because “that he did not provide the appropriate elements to enter Australia”.

This is the latest episode of a two-day soap opera and the Serbian player’s announcement that he has been granted a medical exemption to travel to Australia despite his uncertain vaccination status and the fact that the country is imposing vaccination to enter its territory. The player has never confirmed that he was not vaccinated against Covid-19 but has repeatedly expressed his reluctance on the subject.
