Across the Channel, Jannik Sinner is competing in his own stage race, on the London lawn. After dominating unseeded opponents in the Wimbledon seedings, the world No. 8 faces an out-of-class rise, known as Novak Djokovic, on Friday (July 14). Quadruple defending champion and on the strength of his recent success at Roland-Garros, the Serb presents himself as the big favorite for this 2023 edition.
On the one hand, the 22-year-old Italian is looking for his first final and his first Grand Slam title. On the other hand, the 36-year-old Serb is aiming for the record of eight titles on the London turf, held by Roger Federer for men, one length from the absolute record of Martina Navratilova (9). The psychological advantage goes to Novak Djokovic, who eliminated Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals in London last year.
