Novak Djokovic antivax: new blow, his answer is not long in coming

The 2022 season of Novak Djokovic is like no other for the tennis player, who has experienced ups and downs since last January. It must be said that after two very complicated years due to the health crisis, the regulations have changed and that has not really helped the Serb, refractory to the vaccine against Covid. At the beginning of January, he sparked a huge controversy upon his arrival in Australia and after several days of an imbroglio which reached the highest peaks, Jelena’s husband was denied access to the territory. He was then able to go to Roland-Garros, but he came across a once again stratospheric Rafael Nadal, losing in the quarter-finals.

The highlight of his season came during the Wimbledon tournament last July. After a superb career and well helped by the injury of his great Spanish rival, Novak Djokovic managed to win his 21st Grand Slam tournament after a clear victory against Nick Kyrgios. To close this season like no other, the 35-year-old sportsman hoped that the American authorities would be lax towards him and allow him to enter their territory. No miracle or free pass for the tennis legend so, who will be content to watch the tournament from his house, surrounded by his two children.

It’s sad, but I couldn’t travel to New York this year for the US Open.

Obviously disappointed not to be able to defend his chances in a tournament he has already won three times, Novak Djokovic spoke on his Instagram account after this very bad news. “It’s sad, but I won’t be able to travel to New York this year for the US Open. Thank you to all of the ‘NoleFam’ for all your messages of love and support. Good luck to all the other players!”he writes, before reassuring his fans about a possible decline in physical and mental form: “I will continue to stay in shape and have a positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again. See you soon tennis world!” (a message to be found in the slideshow).

Inevitably very disappointed with his absence, Novak Djokovic nonetheless remains fair play and will patiently wait for the health rules to relax to return to the United States.
