Nova Scotia | Gunman wanted after motel shooting

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) issued an alert for parts of Nova Scotia on Sunday evening as they are searching for a dangerous man armed with a shotgun following a shooting a shooting at a motel.


In its alert message issued shortly after 11 p.m. local time, the RCMP indicated that a 52-year-old man opened fire on a woman he knew at a motel located on Highway 2 in Brookfield. The woman was injured, according to the federal police force.

The alert concerns Colchester, Cumberland, Guysborough, Hants and Pictou counties, as well as the Halifax region.

The suspect is described as a white male, five feet and ten inches tall, weighing 205 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The man reportedly left the scene of the shooting in a vehicle, described as a crew cab model with a cracked windshield, a gray metal toolbox in the bed, an air bag and a missing cover on the wheel.

Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact them and are recommending against accepting hitchhikers.
