Questioned on the sidelines of an announcement by the Société des traversiers du Québec on Monday, the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Geneviève Guilbault, confirmed that the first elements drawn from these long-awaited studies have been brought to her attention. “I got information, but it’s not complete and I’m not ready, as we speak, to update,” said the Deputy Premier.

During a press scrum two weeks ago, Ms. Guilbault ranked the third link project – a $6.5 billion twin-tube – among her “top priorities for the year”.

Then last Friday, at the end of the pre-sessional caucus of his political party, Prime Minister François Legault, who was hounded on this subject every day during the last election campaign, assured that the unveiling of the first studies is for “soon”.

“I haven’t seen it, but the Ministry of Transport has promised to deliver it to us in the coming weeks,” dropped the CAQ chief.

“Early 2023”

Minister Guilbault intends to honor her word. “I said at the beginning of 2023: I maintain my commitment, but today I don’t have everything I need to be able to make an announcement,” she explained.

Were the first elements obtained unsatisfactory in his eyes?

“I had some information, but right now I don’t have all the information,” retorted the MNA for Louis-Hébert, repeating that she still has work to do.

“I have always said that there is a challenge of communication, transparency, clarity and the day when I will give a presentation […], it’s because everything is going to be there and it’s going to be clear and it’s going to be complete. »
