The dates for the 2024 baccalaureate were revealed on Thursday, September 28, with confirmation: the specialty tests will take place in June and not in March, unlike the 2023 session. For the general and technological baccalaureate, Terminale students will start with philosophy, Tuesday June 18 in the morning.

“This is not good news, because we will be able to work less on the specialties before philosophy, whereas last year, the students had plenty of time to work on philosophy after the specialties. And the specialties are the most important, so it should be at the beginning!“, exclaims a high school student, interviewed in front of a high school by franceinfo.
For the specialty tests, each candidate is called over two days to take their two tests: one lesson per day. “The program is heavy on specialties. Working on them first seems logical to me, so having the philosophy baccalaureate before is completely stupid!“, complains another high school student.
Results July 8, 2024
The specialty tests will take place from Wednesday June 19 to Friday June 21, still in the general and technological series. Then will come the grand oral, from June 24 to July 3. “Unfortunately, we are going to have four events in a row, I think that is not necessarily a good idea“, says another Terminale student.
One of his comrades is also skeptical: “The bac doesn’t count on Parcoursup, so it’s no longer of much use, already. And I find that it allows us to make a homogeneous classification between all the high schools in France.”
The bac grade is now based 40% on continuous assessment and 60% on so-called final tests. Concerning the professional baccalaureate, the written tests will take place Tuesday June 11 and Friday June 14, then from Tuesday 18 to Friday 21, and from Monday 24 to Wednesday June 26, 2024. The results will be published on Monday July 8, 2024.
