Norwegian authorities said Thursday, September 26, that they had issued an international search notice for a missing Norwegian man possibly linked to the delivery of Hezbollah’s beeper bombs to Lebanon, which detonated in the area killing at least 12 people and wounding hundreds. The Norwegian National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos), which issued the notice, has not revealed the identity of the man.
“A missing person file has been opened and we have launched an international search notice to find this person”Mari Elise Bunaes Myhrer of the Oslo police told NRK television. Last week, the Oslo police launched “preliminary research” regarding press reports about a company registered in Bulgaria by a Norwegian who imported pagers and arranged their delivery to Hezbollah.
Bulgarian authorities opened an investigation after the Hungarian website Telex reported that the company, Norta Global, had imported the devices and then delivered them to Hezbollah. The Bulgarian National Security Agency later said the company had nothing to do with the delivery of the explosive communications devices, but Oslo police said they were conducting their own investigations.
