(Port-Cartier) An elderly lady was fatally struck by a car Monday afternoon in a driveway of a private residence on the North Shore.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. in Port-Cartier.
“The driver was trying to perform a maneuver backwards in a private entrance and he would not have seen the lady who was behind the vehicle,” explained Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The 78-year-old lady was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver was also taken to the hospital to treat a nervous shock.
An investigation is underway to try to determine the exact circumstances of this collision.
According to the SQ, there would be “no criminal element linked to this sad accident”.
