Due to lack of staff, the emergency rooms in Forestville and Les Escoumins will be completely closed for several days this week.
Following recent service disruptions, new cuts will affect the region, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de la Côte-Nord indicates on its website. They will force the closure of the Forestville emergency room day and night from Monday to Tuesday, as well as from Friday to Sunday inclusive. It will therefore only be open Wednesday and Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As for the emergency room in Les Escoumins, it will not accept any patients this Wednesday evening, nor from Thursday to Sunday day and night.
In Baie-Comeau, the emergency room and operating room at Le Royer Hospital are operating at reduced capacity and the beds in its overflow unit are closed. The same scenario is true at Sept-Îles Hospital. On the Côte-Nord, there has also been a reduction in home support services.
As of last Wednesday, six members of the flying team promised by Health Minister Christian Dubé were deployed to the region. These include four health and social care auxiliaries, a beneficiary attendant and a nurse sent as reinforcements.
Further details will follow.
