North of the island | The Papineau-Leblanc bridge closed for the entire weekend

The Papineau-Leblanc bridge linking Montreal to Laval will be closed throughout next weekend. Stays must be replaced on the structure, which risks generating heavy congestion along Highway 19.

This was indicated on Monday by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD), in a brief press release.

Thus, from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 4:30 a.m., Highway 19 will be completely closed southbound between Highway 440 and Henri-Bourassa Boulevard. Heading north, the highway will be blocked between boulevards de la Concorde and Henri-Bourassa.

Several detour routes will be clearly displayed by temporary signage. Access to Saint-Martin Boulevard will nevertheless remain possible at all times for motorists.

Quebec invites citizens who would like to transit between Montreal and Laval in this sector to opt for the Médéric-Martin bridge, on the axis of highway 15, or the Pie-IX bridge, on the axis of route 125.

“Episodes of congestion are to be expected,” added the MTMD, which recommends that road users who will have to travel in the area “allow more time to get to their destination.”

We also suggest that all motorists consult the government platform Québec 511 before traveling, in order to better plan their trips.
