Missiles supplied by North Korea to Russia were used during large-scale attacks on Ukraine in recent days, the White House said on Thursday, January 4. Washington denounces “consequent and worrying escalation” of Pyongyang’s support for Moscow.
“Our information indicates that North Korea has recently supplied Russia with ballistic missile launch systems and several ballistic missiles”some of which were then used, on December 30 and then on January 2, in strikes on Ukraine, detailed the spokesperson for the American National Security Council, John Kirby.

The United States and its allies will now take the issue to the UN Security Council. This missile transfer represents a violation of UN sanctions against North Korea, John Kirby said.
Russia also plans to buy missiles from its Iranian ally, the spokesperson said. “We will impose additional sanctions against those working to facilitate these arms transfers between Russia and North Korea and between Russia and Iran,” he added.
