Since the beginning of the year, Pyongyang has already carried out more than a dozen test firings, and in particular launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in March for the first time since 2017.
The North Korean regime has also said it intends to continue developing its nuclear arsenal, ignoring offers of dialogue made by the United States.
Wednesday’s trial comes days before new South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol takes office on May 10, after he has promised to get tough on North Korea.
