A new salvo after a record series of missile launches by Pyongyang. North Korea has launched four short-range missiles towards the Yellow Sea, the South Korean military said Saturday (November 5th). According to her, the missiles were fired “between 11:32 a.m. and 11:39 a.m.” (local time) and covered a distance of 130 km, at an altitude of about 20 km.
Shortly before, the South Korean army had announced the participation on Saturday afternoon of the American B-1B supersonic heavy bomber in the extensive air exercises underway in South Korea. These exercises are considered by the North Korean diet as a “aggressive and provocative military maneuver“.
Initially scheduled until Friday, the exercises have been extended until Saturday after North Korea has increased its missile launches in recent days. Pyongyang fired around 30 missiles on Wednesday and Thursday, including one that ended near South Korea’s territorial waters for the first time since the end of the Korean War in 1953.
The European Union on Saturday condemned the number “unprecedented” shots “illegal” missiles operated by North Korea. The EU therefore calls for “the full application of sanctions to prevent the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea from obtaining material, knowledge and funding supporting its illegal weapons programs”.
