(Seoul) The influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Sunday again denounced the sending of balloons filled with leaflets against her brother across the border by South Korean “scum”, the North’s official news agency reported.
“Despite repeated warnings from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea [nom officiel de la Corée du Nord]the scum of the Republic of Korea [Corée du Sud] “Don’t stop this crude and dirty game,” Kim Yo Jong said, according to KCNA.
“The clans of the Republic of Korea will be tired of suffering unpleasant embarrassment and must be prepared to pay a very high price,” she warned.
Kim Yo Jong, one of the North Korean regime’s most senior spokespeople, said she had been informed that “dirty leaflets and other things” had been found on North Korean territory along the border with the South.
The army searches, “throws into the fire and gets rid of the garbage,” she added.
The two neighbours are engaged in a balloon battle, with Pyongyang sending rubbish to the South and South Korea launching anti-North propaganda by militants.
North Korea has already flown more than a thousand of them, claiming it was in retaliation.
As a result, Seoul in June suspended a military agreement aimed at reducing tensions and resumed live-fire drills near the border, in addition to reviving anti-North propaganda through loudspeakers along the border.
Relations between the two Koreas are at their lowest in years, with Pyongyang stepping up weapons tests and strengthening ties with Russia.
Seoul and Washington accuse him of supplying arms to Moscow for its war in Ukraine.
