North Korea announces that the epidemic has claimed 21 new lives, two days after the official announcement of the very first case

The reclusive country of 25 million inhabitants has also made it known that more than half a million patients are infected.

“The number of people with fever between the end of April and May 13 is more than 524,440”, according to KCNA, the state news agency which reported 27 deaths in total. They were 187,800 Thursday according to this agency.

This reclusive country, of 25 million inhabitants, announced its first cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, declaring to go into a regime of “maximum emergency prevention of epidemics”, which involves containment measures, after people tested positive for Omicron’s BA.2 sub-variant.
