(Los Angeles) The latest dance film installment magic mikedirected by Steven Soderbergh, dethroned upon its release Knock at the cabinby the master of American suspense M. Night Shyamalan, remained at the top of the North American box office for only one week, according to figures on Sunday from the specialized firm Exhibitor Relations.
Magic Mike’s Last Dancethird in the series of adventures by stripper Mike Lane, earned an estimated $8.2 million over the weekend, ahead of Avatar 2: The Way of the Waterwhich remains in second place with $6.9 million.
In 2012, the first magic mike, directed by Steven Soderbergh, mixed dance numbers and social fresco of young Americans tempted by easy money, partying and drugs. In this third opus, we find Channing Tatum, who sways this time for the beautiful eyes of Salma Hayek.
In third position, another film by James Cameron, titanic, which is making a comeback on screens, in 3D, a quarter of a century after its release. He earned 6.4 million, while he is already in the top 3 of the highest grossing films in cinema history.
In fourth place, comedy 80 for Brady earns 6 million, ahead Knock at the cabin which falls from above and ranks fifth, with 4.4 million harvested this weekend.
Puss in Boots 2: The Last Questa children’s film from the world of the saga Shreklost two places this week to finish sixth with 3.9 million.
