Nordahl Lelandais transferred to a prison in Haut-Rhin

The man sentenced for the murders of Maëlys de Araujo and Corporal Arthur Noyer has just been transferred to the central house of Ensisheim, known for having hosted several French serial killers.

A discreet transfer. Nordahl Lelandais is now incarcerated at the central house of Ensisheim (Haut-Rhin), learned France Télévisions from concordant judicial and penitentiary sources. The 39-year-old man, sentenced to life imprisonment with a security period of 22 years for the murder of little Maëlys, as well as for the murder of Corporal Arthur Noyer, was previously detained in the prison of Aix-Luynes (Bouches-du-Rhône).

After his conviction in May 2021, Nordahl Lelandais was first detained in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier prison (Isère). In March 2022, he was sentenced to an additional eight months in prison for concealment of misdemeanor, after being caught in possession of a mobile phone and two SIM cards in his solitary confinement cell. His ex-girlfriend, prosecuted for having provided the phone and SIM cards at his request, had meanwhile received a six-month suspended prison sentence for introduction illegal possession of objects.

Last April, Nordahl Lelandais was caught having sex with a visitor during a meeting in the visiting room of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier prison. Behavior prohibited by the rules. On June 2, he was finally transferred from this establishment to the national evaluation center of Aix-Luynes, while waiting to be directed to the central house of Ensisheim.

This old and dilapidated prison, with around 200 places, accommodates inmates serving long sentences. Several French serial killers, such as Michel Fourniret or Emile Louis, have been incarcerated there. Others still are.
