After just over a year at the helm of the newscast The Wire 17 Noémi Mercier will soon be leaving the animation of the daily to devote herself to the production of documentaries for the news channel.
The news was announced to all employees on Monday morning. The head of antenna will host her last bulletin at 5 p.m. at the beginning of June. However, this is not a departure from Noovo since it will be responsible for the production of documentaries, in the tradition of “Surviving sport”, broadcast last January, the team was given as an example.
At the time of writing these lines, the management of Noovo Info had not yet answered the questions of the To have to. It is therefore impossible to know whether this internal change is the will of Noémi Mercier or a decision of senior management.
Employees told the To have to have some concerns about the editorial orientation that the information room will take following this departure. The arrival of a new newscaster could upset the functioning of the team as well as the content of the newsletter.
For the moment, management has not announced who will replace Noémi Mercier this fall. But internally the name of Marie-Christine Bergeron has been circulating for a few days. The former LCN anchor and show host I had left TVA in December 2020, after 20 years of service for the broadcaster.
