Noovo and RDS TV channels are off the air due to a water leak in Montreal

Bell Media’s Montreal studios are located in the heart of the flooded area following a major water leak at the foot of the Jacques-Cartier on Friday morning. As a result, some of the group’s channels, such as Noovo and RDS, have lost their signal.

“Bell Media is affected by a water main break in Montreal. Our radio and television stations that broadcast from this location (including RDS, Noovo, CTV MTL, Rouge, Énergie, CJAD, CTV News Ottawa, CTV News Atlantic, CHOM, Virgin, TSN radio MTL and several specialty channels) are affected and some are temporarily off the air. Our teams are working to get the stations back online as soon as possible,” the company said Friday morning.

The match between Félix Auger-Aliassime and Norwegian Casper Ruud will therefore not be able to be broadcast on RDS. The broadcast of the Alouettes match, scheduled for Friday evening, is also compromised if the situation does not change by then.

Bell’s Montreal radio stations, such as Rouge and Énergie, were inaccessible via the web Friday morning. They could still be received on the FM band, however.

Radio-Canada, located a few blocks away, was also affected by the water main break. Power was cut off, but the public broadcaster was able to continue its operations thanks to a generator. Employees were asked to work from home, as much as possible.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Friday morning, a major water leak at the intersection of René-Lévesque Boulevard and De Lorimier Avenue gave way to an imposing geyser.

Several residents in the area were flooded. The area that the SPVM is asking people to avoid is located from René-Lévesque to de Maisonneuve boulevards, and from Alexandre-DeSève to Frontenac streets.
