Former TF1 CEO Nonce Paolini has died at the age of 75, the channel said in a statement on Wednesday, July 17. “It is with deep emotion that we learned of the death of Nonce Paolini today. The teams of the TF1 group join in the sadness of his family and loved ones in these painful moments, and pay tribute to a leader who will have left his mark on our group and on French audiovisual.”we can read in this press release.
Nonce Paolini will have spent nearly 30 years within the Bouygues group. Having worked for Bouygues Telecom, he succeeded the tandem Étienne Mougeotte and Patrick Le Lay at the head of the first private channel in 2007. His first feat of arms was the ousting of the presenter of the 8pm news, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, then that of Claire Chazal in 2015.
He had also initiated a vast plan to modernise TF1, developing digital and replay, while proposing new headliners, such as presenter Gilles Bouleau. “He changed the editorial line of the TF1 channel and its image, by entrusting the reins of the 8pm and weekend news to Gilles Bouleau and Anne-Claire Coudray, and by launching shows like ‘The Voice’ and ‘Danse avec les Stars’, still on air today.”TF1 underlines in its press release.
“Nonce Paolini was a lord in this profession. He was an immense boss of TF1 and a dear friend who accompanied me in the difficult years of the 20 hours. Always by my side, always smiling even in the fight“, reacted on X the former journalist of the channel, Laurence Ferrari.
