The red carpet which will welcome the King of England, Charles III, visiting France from March 26 to 29 was sent to the Élysée Palace on Tuesday by non-striking employees, franceinfo learned from the National Furniture.
The CGT Culture had announced in a press release published Tuesday that the staff of the National Furniture, on strike against the pension reform, refused to participate in the reception of Charles III in France scheduled for Sunday. “We ask our administration to let the services concerned know that we will not be providing the furnishings, the red carpets, or the flags.“, is it written in the press release.

Gathered in the General Assembly last Tuesday, the 130 agents of Mobilier national and the Gobelins, Beauvais and Savonnerie carpet and tapestry factories decided to go on strike until Thursday March 23 to mark their opposition to the pension reform.
“We stand in solidarity with English workers”
The King of England may not be welcomed with all the usual pomp of the Republic: “It will be without us! We stand in solidarity with English workers, especially in culture (British Museum, Wallace collection…), who have been on strike for weeks for wage increases”, indicated the CGT Culture.
The staff informed the Ministry of Culture that “Any request for furniture would be considered immediately by the agents as a provocation and a questioning of the legitimate strike that we voted for”he had warned.
