Non-essential travel | Ottawa lifts its opinion

(Ottawa) The federal government has lifted an advisory asking Canadians to avoid non-essential travel outside the country, but continues to advise against travel on cruise ships.

The general travel advisory was put in place in March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic spread around the world.

The Government of Canada’s website now displays advisories for each destination country, as it did before the pandemic.

He urges Canadians to make sure they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before traveling abroad and to stay informed of the health situation at their destination.

Canada opened its borders last month for non-essential stays to international travelers who have received both doses of a Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine. The borders were also opened to fully vaccinated travelers from the United States in August.

The US government recently announced that Canadians could cross its borders for non-essential travel on November 8.
