noisy weddings, the town hall raises the tone

In Reims, getting married could cost more than expected. The town hall can’t stand the ceremonies that are too intrusive, too messy and too noisy in the streets of the city. It has therefore just reinforced the regulations. It now requires two sureties from the spouses, the total amount of which is 700 euros. A check for 200 euros will be retained if the lovebirds do not show up or if they arrive late on “D” day. And another check, for 500 euros, will be cashed if their guests are badly parked or if they dirty the forecourt of the town hall too much, in particular with jets of rice or confetti.

If this decision divides the Rémois, certain residents of the town hall, them, applaud the mayor. “I fully understand that on the day of a wedding, the spouses and their loved ones are in the demonstration, but it must be done with respect”believes Catherine, in her sixties:

Deposits: “an excessive amount”

Patrick, he judges that the amount of the two guarantees is disproportionate. “Especially in these times of crisis”adds the septuagenarian for whom he “It’s not unusual to see a public square, like that of the Town Hall, very lively on wedding days” :

Nevertheless, the bride and groom must now be discreet. The mayor, Arnaud Robinet, confides to France Bleu Champagne-Ardenne that he does not want to come to no longer celebrate a wedding on Saturday.
