The French researcher Alain Aspect, co-winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics on Tuesday, October 4 with an American and an Austrian, urged the international scientific community to block the “nationalism”.

“It’s important for scientists to remain an international community when the world is not doing so well and nationalism is taking hold in many countries”, said the scientist from Paris-Saclay University and the Ecole Polytechnique during an interview with the Nobel Foundation, which oversees the famous prizes.

The Nobel Prize in Physics crowned Alain Aspect, along with the American John Clauser and the Austrian Anton Zeilinger, for their pioneering work on “quantum entanglement”, a revolutionary mechanism in quantum physics. The French winner said to himself “proud” to end up on a list with the big names in world physics, including the pioneers of quantum physics like Albert Einstein, winner in physics 100 years ago, or the German Werner Heisenberg.
