Noah Lyles crowned Olympic 100m champion by a hair’s breadth ahead of Jamaican Kishane Thompson, in 9”79

World sprinting has a new Olympic champion. In a final that will remain one of the highlights of these Games, Noah Lyles won the 100m in 9.79 seconds to win the gold medal in the main event of the fortnight, Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the Stade de France.

The podium was completed by Jamaican Kishane Thompson (9″79′) and another American, Fred Kerley (9’81”). The American champion also beat his personal record in a final where all the riders finished under 10 seconds.
