Six vice-presidents, including two from La France Insoumise, but none from the National Rally. Xavier Breton (LR), Nadège Abomangoli (LFI), Naïma Moutchou (Horizons) and Clémence Guetté (LFI) were elected in the first round of voting for the vice-presidency of the National Assembly, Friday July 19. They were joined by Roland Lescure (Ensemble pour la République) and Annie Genevard (LR) in the second round.
Sébastien Chenu and Hélène Laporte, from the RN, did not, however, receive enough votes. Unlike in 2022, there will be no far-right MP occupying a vice-presidential position. The MPs from the RN group at the Palais Bourbon denounced this on X on Friday evening “a democratic scandal resulting from agreements made between Macronie and the Republicans”, as well as a “the extreme left’s desire to prevent fair representation of 11 million French people”.
This election of the vice-presidents to the perch also gave rise to a certain chaos, during the first round.
