no question of remaining a failure, their new “baby” is on the way

They haven’t been together on the big screen since 8, rue de l’Humanitéa film released in 2021 on Netflix and retracing the daily life of a building in full confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

And already at the time, Laurence Arné and Dany Boon played a couple. Rebelote in 2024 with The Hennedricks Familywhich is scheduled for release in French theaters on June 26.

In this comedy by Laurence Arné (writing and directing, but also in the leading role), the character of Justine decides to go on a road trip with Henri, her son, Ludo, her very recent companion as well as Joseph, the latter’s son.

Objective ? Convince Henri not to go live with his father through this family adventure on the roads, supposed to strengthen the bonds between mother and son. A major challenge which quickly turns into chaos but the blended family manages to come together around a passion: music, with the creation of a group, The Hennedricks.

Tops and flops in their shared career

Enough to offer a funny and touching comedy where the couple of actors, on screen and in town, will try to make people forget past failures. Because 8, Rue de l’Humanité is very far from having been a success, both commercially and critically. The film only garners an average of 1.5 stars out of 5 on specialized sites. Many spectators had judged the film “not even worthy of a TF1 TV movie”, “lazy”, “poor scriptwriting”, etc. Its broadcast on TF1 in July 2023 did not attract crowds either, with only 3 million viewers.

The couple, however, makes up for it with their two other, much more successful collaborations: Cheap! in 2016 with its nearly 3 million entries – where the character of Laurence was in love with that of Dany -, then
La Ch’tite Famille
in 2018 – where Arné and Boon played… a couple, which attracted more than 5.5 million spectators in cinemas. Could the secret of a long-lasting and successful acting couple be to only play eternal lovers?
