August 1, 2003 marked the tragic disappearance of actress Marie Trintignant, who died of cerebral edema three days after having suffered violence inflicted by her companion Bertrand Cantat, leader of the rock group Noir Désir. A drama which deeply marked Gérard Lanvin who, following the death of the actress, made the decision to take action against violence against women. In 2021, he recorded Call for helpa song from the album Down here in which he evokes the “massacre” of her faithful friend.

Guest on the airwaves of South Radio this Friday, October 13, 2023, the 73-year-old actor returned to this moving project. I have a friend who was quite close to the family called Marie Trintignant, she was massacred, there is a responsiveness to writing on this because I know that many women are victims of feminicide”he explained before adding that he “We must fight this ignominy.”

“L“A song is a way of fighting.”

According to Gérard Lanvin, “the song is a way of fighting”just like a feature film. “A film is a way of positioning yourself, but I don’t know how to write a screenplay, you need an aptitude for that, you need to know how to construct writing… I know how to write songs. I wrote for Paul Nobody for Bernie Bonvoisin. It allowed me to write this song with reassurance that others had taken my songs.”he added.

And to continue: “Manu (Lanvin, editor’s note) made this music for me, we recorded this text and we offered it to radio stations to help associations, but no one played them”. Indeed, the actor assures that“uAn actor who sings, that interests no one…” Despite these decisions, Gérard Lanvin does not lose hope and intends to fight his fight to the end. The problem is not listening to other people’s arguments, it’s existing and making sure you don’t rely on anyone but yourself.” That’s what it says!
