An agreement in principle was finally reached between Air Transat and the union representing its flight attendants, which should put an end to the threat of strike that had been looming for several days.

This is what the carrier announced Thursday morning, specifying that the details of the agreement for the renewal of the collective agreement will be presented to members in the coming days.

Travelers who were worried about a strike starting January 3, 2024 will therefore be able to breathe and “enjoy their travel plans with complete peace of mind,” according to Air Transat.

The flight attendants’ union, which represents 2,100 members, had a very strong strike mandate accepted by 99.8% to argue that working conditions needed to be reviewed.

We are confident that the agreement will meet the expectations of our members. We look forward to submitting it to them. We should have a final result of the vote at the beginning of January“, reacted in a press release Dominic Levasseur, president of the Air Transat component of CUPE.
