The bank accounts of donors to the “freedom convoy” have not been frozen, contrary to what conservative elected officials have suggested, assured the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Monday.

The federal police explained, in a brief press release, that they had sent banks across the country a list of “influencers” who mobilized the demonstrators gathered in Ottawa and vehicle owners who refused to leave the city center, so that their bank accounts be frozen under the Emergencies Act.
“At no time did we provide a list of donors to financial institutions,” however denied the RCMP.
The federal police had to make this clarification following a post on Twitter by British Columbia Conservative MP Mark Stahl.
