In fact, Clint Eastwood never said those words. This image is a montage that has been circulating for years. Originally, there was a post from August 4, 2019 on a Facebook page titled Message, which uses the image of the actor and promises to bring the true word of God against “fake news in the media”. The next day, the montage was shared by curator Ken Blackwell, former treasurer of Ohio and member of the NRA, the main association for the defense of arms. Intox then begins its race for likes and shares. Yet neither of these two posts claims that this is a true quote from Clint Eastwood.

And for good reason, this sentence has already been circulating, without the face of Clint Eastwood, for a year before in 2018. We owe it to the governor of Texas Greg Abbott, member of the Republican Party, who during the annual meeting of the NRA declared: ” The problem is not the weapons. The problem is hearts without God.
