After 234 Canadians, permanent residents and eligible family members, were allowed to cross the Gaza-Egypt border on Sunday, the released list of those who will be allowed to cross on Monday does not appear to contain any Canadians.
The General Authority for Crossings and Borders publishes a daily list of foreigners authorized to use the Rafah crossing, established in coordination with the Egyptian and Israeli governments.
The Canadians do not appear to have been included on the latest list, published on Sunday, to obtain authorization to cross on Monday.
On Friday, the list was expanded to include 266 Canadian citizens, permanent residents and their family members, meaning some people on the list have not yet come out.
The war, now in its sixth week, began on October 7 when Hamas militants stormed into Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking around 240 others hostage to Gaza.
Israel has responded with daily air and ground strikes, and Hamas-led health authorities say the death toll in the territory has exceeded 11,000.
Sunday’s crossings took place after the Rafah crossing reopened following a two-day closure.
The Egyptian government allows those crossing the Rafah border to stay in the country for up to 72 hours.
The Canadian Embassy in Egypt is assisting those who have crossed the border by providing transportation to Cairo, as well as food and accommodation until they have made their travel plans.
