As a Sunday car and to go on the circuit from time to time, would you choose the new Nissan Z or the Toyota Supra 3.0?

Hello Michael,
This is a question that many columnists and enthusiasts will try to answer. For my part, the answer is clear: I would choose the Nissan Z. The first thing that makes me lean in its favor is the ease it can provide against the Supra, in which I personally have never been able to find a good driving position. Its very dark cabin, problematic visibility and my difficulty in becoming one with the car mean that I wouldn’t want it.
Admittedly, the Supra is home to a superb engine. Obviously from BMW, like several parts of the car, but which is distinguished by its torque, its great flexibility and a most exhilarating sound. We also feel the car is very solid, although it is much less intuitive on the road and on the track than the Nissan Z.
On the side of the Nissan, some elements are disappointing. In particular, the uncomfortable seats as well as elements borrowed from the previous generation model, difficult to justify on a car sold at $60,000. Even though it costs $10,000 less than the Supra, it’s no longer the bargain it once was. In fact, the Z is a very enticing performance car, with fantastic lines that I’m sure will be more reliable and less flimsy than the Supra. The Nissan proves to be just as fast despite its 40 extra kilos (compared to the Supra) – and more easily controllable. Plus, it’s less boring to drive than the Supra.
In closing, also consider that the Z is also easier on a daily basis. It will also resell much more easily, since the Supra is one of the few sports cars easy to obtain, for lack of buyers. Besides, you’ll have to plan ahead if you want to get your hands on a Z, because the waiting lists are getting longer while dealers wait to receive the rare units allocated for the Canadian market.
