Nine young adults were arrested and indicted on Wednesday March 15 and Thursday March 16 in Auxerre, reports France Bleu Auxerre on Friday March 17. They are suspected of having kidnapped, kidnapped and beaten up a young man who had just received an inheritance.

The 22-year-old victim told his dealer that he had inherited a few tens of thousands of euros. The dealer then surrounded himself with eight other people, and decided to kidnap him. On January 26, near the Auxerre hospital center, they forcibly loaded the victim into a car, blindfolded him and stuck a knife in his thigh. They locked him in an apartment in the town of Saint-Florentin, about thirty kilometers north of Auxerre. The kidnappers tied the victim, beat him. They managed to extract his bank details and transferred the money.

Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, the young man managed to escape and took refuge with a woman, who opened the door for him and called the gendarmes. Before being arrested, the suspects squandered part of their loot in Auxerre shops.

Four of them were referred to the Auxerre prosecutor’s office on Wednesday March 15. Five were presented Thursday, March 16 to an investigating judge. They were all indicted for kidnapping and forcible confinement. Three of them were placed under arrest warrant and another under judicial supervision.
