Nightmarish summer at the head of the bridges

Motorists will have to be patient to take one of the two inter-river crossings in the Québec region. The Quebec Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will be carrying out major work there for the vast majority of the summer.

The ramps leading from Autoroute Henri-IV to Boulevard Champlain, as well as from Boulevard Champlain to Autoroute Henri-IV southbound, will be closed from June 27 to August 10 inclusively.

According to the MTQ, it is to rebuild a culvert on Boulevard Champlain that these obstructions will be in effect during the holidays.

“This intervention is planned in the project to redevelop the interchanges north of the Pierre-Laporte and Quebec bridges,” explained spokesperson Émilie Lord in a press release.

Long detour

These major obstacles will force users to make numerous detours to circulate in the sector, particularly for those who want to go to Champlain Boulevard from the Henri-IV highway.

According to the route proposed by the MTQ, they will have to cross the Pierre-Laporte bridge and turn around by taking the Route des Rivières in Lévis, about five kilometers further. They will have to take the car link again to access the exit to the boulevard.

The Ministry of Transport therefore asks motorists who can to “choose an alternative route for their trips” in order to avoid the work zones.
