The two former Presidents of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande will be heard on March 16 in the National Assembly by the parliamentary commission of inquiry aimed at establishing the reasons for France’s loss of sovereignty and energy independence, a learned from franceinfo from parliamentary sources.

These two hearings will close the work of this commission, which has also heard in recent months the last ministers of the Environment, the successive bosses of EDF, scientists to try to understand the energy weaknesses of France. MEPs will adopt their final report on March 30, a document which will be made public in the following days.

This commission chaired by the deputy LR Raphaël Schellenberger aims to determine the causes of the “loss of sovereignty” caused in particular by the problems of production and electricity supply in France. The LR deputies launched this commission of inquiry last October, criticizing the energy policy of François Hollande, then Emmanuel Macron, in particular his decision to close the Fessenheim nuclear power plant, disputed for a long time by the deputy of Haut-Rhin Raphael Schellenberger.
