In an interview published in the JDD, Sunday October 23, Nicolas Sarkozy suggests to Emmanuel Macron to conclude a political agreement with Les Républicains.
Plunging France into a political crisis would be irresponsible, according to them. In a column in the JDD, published on Sunday, October 23, 53 deputies from the Republicans and relatives affirm that they will not vote for the motions of censure of the Nupes and the National Rally (RN) on the budget. But they ask the government to learn to listen to the proposals of the right. A choice hailed by the majority, but strongly criticized on the side of the RN, which deplores a mixture of genres.
The signatory deputies of the platform affirm that they remain well in the opposition. But some would like to go further, with the idea of a rapprochement. In the same issue of the JDD, Nicolas Sarkozy advises Emmanuel Macron to join forces with the Republicans to consolidate his majority in the Assembly. “I would sometimes like him to cross the Rubicon more frankly, because France is today mostly on the side of the party of authority, firmness, freedom”, says the former head of state. An idea that does not share Bruno Retailleau, candidate for the presidency of the Republicans.
