Nicolas Renard and Ugo Humbert, gold medalists at the Olympiades des Métiers

From January 13 to 15, 2022, the National Finals of the 46th Skills Olympiad were held in Lyon. Three days of intense competition, sharing trades and passion, during which 49 young boys and girls from the Grand Est competed with competitors from other Regions to win a place in the French Trades Team.

In this program available for replay via the player at the top of the page, Olivier Cattiaux receives Nicholas Renard 21 years old, in BTS BTP at the CFA of Charleville-Mézières and Ugo Humbert, 21 years old. This pair won the GOLD medal at the Olympiades des Métiers category urban planning and pipe networks (Building and public works division).

The Trades Olympiads

The Trades Olympiads allow young people from all over the world to measure their know-how in 60 trades. This competition gives a global and concrete vision of today’s trades and skills in seven sectors of the economy. The Skills Olympiad is known abroad as the WorldSkills Competition. They are organized every two years in a different country.

Some figures in the Grand Est

  • 56 professional events organized between January and March 2020 throughout the Grand Est.
  • More than 300 partners mobilized for the success of this new edition.
  • Of the 49 competitors of the Grand Est team, 13 will join the French team during the world events in Shanghai.
  • 7 winners will go to the Euroskills in Saint-Petersburg.
  • On a national scale, 64 professions, 7 poles, 600 competitors from 14 regions.

Among these winners, some gold medalists will join the French trades team, which will participate in the international WorldSkills competition. (Skills Olympiad)in October 2022 in Shanghai, China.
