Nicolas Jarry wins in Geneva

(Geneva) Chilean Nicolas Jarry beat Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets 7-6 (1), 6-1 in the final of the Geneva Tennis Open on Saturday.

Dimitrov, who was once ranked third in the world, was hoping to win his first ATP tournament since 2017.

It’s more like Jarry, 54e world player, who earned a second title in 2023 when Dimitrov was unable to return a powerful serve, on the Chilean’s first match point.

Jarry celebrated his victory by crossing the court to join his family, before handing his racquet to his young son.

During the week, Jarry defeated two-time defending champion Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev and Dimitrov.

Dimitrov was in his first final since 2018, in Rotterdam, where he lost to Roger Federer.
