The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosidecided to make the mask again compulsory in transport in order to face the soaring cases of Covid. The measure will begin on Monday, July 11.

From Monday July 11, in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes)wearing a mask will no longer be recommended but compulsory on all public transport in the metropolis (bus, tram). On the French Rivierathe virus is circulating strongly again. With 1,401 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the metropolis of Nice is well above the national average. With the summer and the arrival of tourists, transport is once again crowded. “I took the tram earlier and usually, there are not that many people”says a woman.

Since the start of the pandemic, the mayor of Nice has often been at the forefront in the fight against Covid. With this municipal decree, Christian Estrosi is one of the first to make the mask compulsory again in transport. For now, the order will take effect until July 31. The fine was set at 150 euros.
