The draw for the group stage of the Europa League conference (C4) took place on Friday in Istanbul, following the draw for the C3.

The Eaglets are fixed. For its second edition, UEFA and Europa League conference officials drew lots for the group stage on Friday August 26 in Istanbul (Turkey). Following that of the Europa League (C3) which saw Rennes, Monaco and Nantes be spared, OGC Nice (Group D) inherited affordable opponents with the Serbs of Partizan Belgrade, the Germans of FC Cologne and FC Slovacko (Czech Republic).
Leader of pot 3 thanks to its 12 UEFA coefficient points, Nice was the only French club involved in the competition. Lucien Favre’s players managed to qualify for the competition on Thursday evening by taking the best of Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the return play-off (2-1, in aggregate score). The Niçois lost in the first leg to Israel on the smallest of scores (1-0), after sorely lacking in offensive efficiency, and following an error by their new goalkeeper, the Dane Kasper Schmeichel . Since then, the Gym has notably recruited Arsenal striker and former Lille player Nicolas Pepe, who arrived on loan on the Côte d’Azur.

The Serbian club FK Partizan Belgrade, great national rival of Red Star Belgrade (opponent of Monaco in C3) which it faces every year in the “eternal derby”, will be the main threat for the Aiglons. Partizan, which has won eight Serbian championships in its history, was only penultimate in pot 1, however. 60s and 70s. FC Slovacko acts as a little thumb in this group D.
