The town hall of Cannes has indicated that it will make a decision “depending on the results of the French team“. The mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard (Les Républicains), president of the Association of Mayors of France, is the son of a former professional footballer, Denis Lisnard.
On Monday, Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nancy and Reims had joined the list of French cities refusing for humanitarian and environmental reasons to promote World Cup matches in Qatar, after Strasbourg, Lille or Rodez. No fan zone or broadcast of matches on giant screens will be organized there, whatever the course of the Blues. Among the reasons for this boycott include the treatment of immigrant workers and the number of deaths in the construction of the eight stadiums of the World Cup.
