The son of former National Hockey League (NHL) star Jarome Iginla was selected sixth overall in the Bettman Draft two weeks ago.
The 17-year-old Canadian had 84 points, including 47 goals, in 64 games last season with the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
In the evening, the Detroit Red Wings also revealed that they had signed their first-round pick in the last draft, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, to a three-year entry-level contract.
