(Edmonton) Zach Hyman had three goals and an assist as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 7-4 on Monday, taking a 1-0 lead in this first-round series in the ‘West.

Connor McDavid completed five passes.

Adam Henrique, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Leon Draisaitl and Warren Foegele also scored for the Oilers.

Evan Bouchard had four assists for Edmonton, which had not won the first game of a home series since 1990.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, Mikey Anderson, Adrian Kempe and Trevor Moore fought back for the Kings.

This is the third straight season the Oilers and Kings have met in the first round.

Edmonton has won in seven games in 2022 and in six meetings in 2023.

Both teams replaced their head coaches this season, after difficult periods.

Kris Knoblauch replaced Jay Woodcroft with the Oilers on November 12. Jim Hiller ousted Todd McLellan on February 2.

The second game will take place Wednesday in Edmonton.
