Ryan Reynolds and the Remington group, promoter with which the actor is associated, would no longer be in the race to acquire the Ottawa Senators, reports ESPN.
Several sources familiar with the matter told the television network that the consortium would not go ahead with its offer, which amounted to more than $1 billion.
The sale of the Senators has been at the heart of the news for a few weeks. In the past few days, American rapper Snoop Doggs has confirmed that he has joined a group wanting to acquire the team. The daily Ottawa Sun also reported on May 8 that Toronto singer The Weeknd had agreed to join a group led by Toronto billionaires Jeffrey and Michael Kimel. The latter, however, has not confirmed his interest publicly.
Reynolds, already co-owner of the Welsh soccer club Wrexham, confirmed in November his interest in buying the Ontario formation.
Remember that interested groups have until May 15 to submit a non-binding offer.
