NHL: reinforcements for the Senators

The Ottawa Senators hired former NHL player Steve Staios as president of hockey operations on Friday.

It was the team’s new owner, Michael Andlauer, who made this hire.

“I am very excited to have Steve join me in Ottawa to lead our hockey operations,” Andlauer said in a press release. I have worked with Steve for several years and know he will strengthen our team with his hockey insight, attention to detail, commitment to excellence and enthusiasm for the game and the players.”

Previously, Staios was in the Edmonton Oilers organization as a special advisor for the hockey operations department.

As a player, Staios played 1,001 games in the NHL, amassing 220 points with the Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, Atlanta Thrashers, Oilers, Calgary Flames and New York Islanders.
